MCC Has Announced New Rules For Cricket: Use Of Saliva ban and Bouncers Are Ok

MCC Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) approve new rules. These rules will come into effect from October 2022. MCC is trying to improve the spirit of the game by introducing the new rules and changing some previous ones.

1.No striking batter can not get when striking batter caught out:

According to this new rule MCC When a batter is caught out the batter stood at the non-striking end cannot get a strike. So, a new player will come on striking end and will face the next ball. But if the batter is caught out on the last ball of the over then the batter on the non-striking end can get strike on the very first ball of the next over. In my opinion, this is good for the bowler because the new batter will be on strike. So, a bowler will have more chances to get out the new batter because it is difficult for any bowler caught out the set batter. The chance to get a hat-trick will increase due to this new rule of MCC. That was very unfair to the bowler after getting a wicket on the last ball and delivering the next ball to set the batter. A set batter can get four or six on the very next ball after the fall of a wicket. After getting punishment bowler always loses his rhythm. So this rule is in very favor of bowlers.

2. Ban on Saliva:

Using saliva to shine the ball was banned due to covid-19. According to the new rule of MCC Using saliva to shine the ball will be treated as any other unfair method to change the condition of the ball. The ban on using saliva is very good because this is very unhygienic. but this can create a problem for bowlers because this will affect the reverse swing. If you want to get reverse swing good shining is very helpful. In dry conditions is very hard for the bowler to shine the ball without saliva. Saliva shines the ball perfectly but due to this new rule bowlers will have to face some problems in getting reverse swing but to overcome captain has to take the second new ball earlier.

3. Unfair play to run out:

Running out non-strikers is declared fair by MCC. Running out of non-striker is put in a run out category. This is in the favor of the spirit of the game. I think this is good because this is not to run before the ball is delivered. So, MMC allowed the bowler to catch out the non-striker if he left the crease on the non-strike end before the ball was delivered.

4. Wide ball rule:

The wide ball will be checked according to the standing position of the batter when the bowler starts his run-up. stump. when the bowler starts his run-up and the batter comes on off stump and then batter change his position and come back on leg stump if bowler delivers the ball on off stump then according to new rule it will not be given the wide does not matter ball pitched outside the wide line. It will be considered a legal delivery. According to the new rule of MMC, the batter tried to cheat the bowler and it is against the spirit of cricket. This is a very healthy rule for a bowler.

5. Bouncers are still legal:

Bouncers are still legal delivery. There is a long debate on the legality of bouncers after the shocking death incident of Australian left-handed batter Philip Hughes who has been died after hitting the ball on his head. According to the new rules of MCC, bowlers can deliver bouncers but authority is given to the on-field umpire to step in to check that either bowler can deliver bouncers or not according to the health condition of the batter.
